Some new juicy poker gossip has just come on the wire from the 2+2 Poker forums regarding the financial situation of famous poker player Daniel Negreanu. The post authored by username AllVegasGuy on the forums, gives a detailed breakdown of how Negreanu has managed to essentially squander his poker winnings in a variety of ill-led business ventures and a poor run at gambling in the last year. AllVegasGuy claims to have insider knowledge of Negreanu’s finances and actions, as well as familiarity with members of his team. Although it appears that the thread was written in an attempt to take a shot at Daniel (AllVegasGuy hates him for thinking he is the god of poker), the post and consequent responses shed some interesting light on Negeranu and the health of his bankroll. Tilt is one of those funny things derived from human nature that adds a bitter sweet twist to the game of poker. Most of us have experienced its effects and know how determental it can be to a sound poker game, so why do we do it? I want to put out there that “tilt” in large part is just another skill in the game of poker that each of us must work towards mastering similar to pot odds or basic starting hands. From a purely mathematical standpoint, tilt should never be a factor in a poker game. You know the odds, percentages and chances, so a so-called “bad beat” should be dismissed as an unlikely occurence that is not supposed to happen very often. If only it were that simple…. I came across a thread today over at the 2+2 forums where members where speculating on the account balances of some of the frequent players at the rooms. I think this is an interesting topic, as alot of us have seen there have been times when these pros have bought in for several hundred thousand dollars if not more, so you’ve got to wonder how much coin they really do keep in their online poker accounts. After some argument back and forth, the general consensus based on play and speculation yielded the following numbers as estimates for the pros online bankrolls: Read the rest of this entry »

Ultimate Bet has launched a game called Roshambo on their software which essentially is a me vs. you rock, paper, scissors type game. Off the top of my head, what are they thinking? I am not sure if they are doing this as a joke, but it appears they aren’t. Basically how it works and two players sit down at a table and play a best of three match based on the money they put in the pot before the session begins. Whoever wins the majority of the three matches claims the pot, minus a 10% rake taken by Ultimate Bet of course, which seems a little high considering the limits are as low as 10 cents per match.
