It was announced today by Virgin that they are going to release a free online gaming application of Texas Hold’em poker to be played on Facebook, in partnership with Playzu. In order to actually play on Facebook, players are required to add the Playzu application to their profiles. Every time a player wins a hand it counts toward daily leader board that can be viewed on Facebook. WSOP 2008 Schedule

The official schedule for the 39th WSOP that will take place in 2008 has been released by Harrah’s Entertainment. The event will once again take place in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, USA. The 2008 WSOP will run from May 30 – July 16, 2008, and as in the previous year, will offer a total of 55 different events for players to participate in. Gameloft has already been this industry, bringing out their Midnight Poker series previously, but when the firm was preparing a new poker game to bring back its reputation, the company knew that it needed a big celebrity name to draw attention to the game. Phil Ivey’s Monday night at FullTilt online was bad to say the least, with the infamous pro player losing copious amounts in a few monster pots. Ivey lost most of his money in two gigantic pots during a game of Omaha against online the online legend that is the Finnish Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, the pair were playing heads up in a $500/$1000 blinds cash game. The table that the players were playing at was actually Ivey’s own table that he created under the name of “Ivey Thunderdome,” but it seems that playing on home turf served as no advantage to Ivey.
