Two high stakes online players had a great session the other day, with big pots being won by both players. Ziigmund and Gus Hansen have been playing against each other quite frequently over the past few months, and it appears that a bit of a rivalry has started to develop between the two. There were 3 or 4 big hands in this particular $200/$400 NL Omaha session, with Hansen winning the biggest pots making him up $167K by the end of the 3-hour long session.
There was also a lot of action in the chat box, but this was more one-sided as most of the abuse came from Ziigmund. Hansen made very little in the way of replies to Ziigmund, keeping a cool head and ignoring the majority of his comments. Ziigmund tried hard it seemed to get Hansen on tilt, but it was to no avail as Hansen walked away the big winner for the night. Here is an extract from what was being said in the chat box:
Ziigmund: gus is fish
Ziigmund: so f bad
Ziigmund: and looks like chec republic man
Gus Hansen: you might lose a coin flip one day Ziggy
Ziigmund: gus is from czech rebubplik
Ziigmund: from ROMANIA HE IS
Ziigmund: gus likes eurovision
Ziigmund: gus should sing in eurovision..team chez romanisa
Ziigmund: gus is singer from romania
Ziigmund: czech rebuplic singer from eurovision gay bar GUSTAV HANSEN
Gus Hansen: no i dont think so
Ziigmund also asked Gus Hansen if he was willing to do a coinflip with him, but this never took place as you can see below:
Ziigmund: i have to leave but lets coinflip
Ziigmund: 1time
Gus Hansen: no thx
The biggest hand of the night fell at Hansen’s feet as he flopped a straight against Ziigmund’s set. Hansen was dealt 6s 7d 8c 4d on the button and raised it to $1200, to which Ziigmund re-raised it to $3600. Hansen made the call and both players went to the flop. The flop came 6h 9d Th, Ziigmund was first to act and bet $7200 into the $7200 pot. Hansen had flopped the nut straight and smooth called as the players now went to the turn. The turn came 5d and Ziigmund now bet $21,600, Hansen then re-raised it to $86,400. Ziigmund came over the top with an all-in push of $147,724 and Hansen called holding the nut straight.
Ziigmund held 9s 9c 2c 4s for a set of nines, and needed the board to pair to make a full house and beat Hansen’s straight. Unfortunately for Ziigmund, the river came the Ks, and Hansen took down the huge $273,848 pot with his straight.
