This bet caused Sahamies to move all-in for $168,980, leaving Ivey with a large decision but he made the call.
There was $321,983 in the pot when the players showed their cards for the showdown, and Ivey would have been quite reasonable to believe that his trip nines with an ace kicker (9c-5d-Ad-Kh) were good enough to take down the pot. Despite Ivey’s strong hand, he was basically drawing dead against Ziigmund’s four-of-a-kind two’s (2s-2d-As-5c).
