As I am sure most have heard the Neteller case has been pushed back yet again for a fourth time to May 16th, when co-founders Stephen Lawrence and John LeFebvre will appear in court on a variety of charges relating to Netellers business in the US.
The fact that the case has been granted a fourth extensions begs some serious questions as to the solidity of the case and its evidence as will be presented by US prosecutors. You would think in such a highly publicized case the prosecutors would be swift to deliver their incriminating evidence which was necessary to jail the two in the first place but for some reason this hasn’t happened. Without speculating it seems the case may not be as strong as first protrayed but only time will tell.
In addition to the trial extension there are also alot of dates coming up that will not only affect Neteller but the majority of US online gambling customers. They are as follows:
June 4th: Neteller’s 75 day deadline for creating a solution to returning US customer funds
July 10th: US governments 260 deadline to introduce regulations to strictly enfore the UIGEA
July 16th: Neteller’s deadline to resume trading on the London Exchange
All of these dates are very significant for both the industry and players alike as the outcomes of all of these events will have tremendous impact on the operators as well as the playing community. Stayed tuned to FlopWire for the latest poker news as it comes in on the wire.
