Recently, the Full Contact Poker room merged with the online poker industry leader and all the current FCP players were moved into the PokerStars room. This has not come as too much as a surprise for some, as the FCP room never really took off as expected despite the fact that it was set up and endorsed by Daniel Negreanu.

The downfall, or more like lack of traffic was probably due to the buggy and difficult to use software, which forced players away from the room after a few sessions at the tables. Full Contact Poker has one of the most popular poker forums around, and has Daniel Negreanu making regular contributions on the topics of poker strategy and general poker affairs. It seemed to make sense to launch a poker room with such a high volume of players visiting the site on a regular basis, but the room did not receive the attention is needed to keep it running, and thus the room has been absorbed by one of the poker room giants.

The merge was probably a wise move for Daniel Negreanu, as there were rumours that the room was actually losing him more money than it was making. Not only was it the best idea for the owners, but for the players also. PokerStars offers much better software along with the highest player volume in the online poker industry for the players to compete with. So even though it is the end of an era for the FCP poker room, it may be the start of a successful poker career for some.

In a separate deal that was related to the merge, Daniel Negreanu signed an endorsement deal with PokerStars shortly before the players from FCP were transferred into their new environment. Now Daniel Negreanu joins the PokerStars team with famous Main Event winners such as Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and most recently Joe Hachem. If you log on to the PokerStars room right now you will find a smiley picture of the big DN at the bottom of the lobby window.

Even though the FCP room is now long gone, you can still log onto the Full Contact Poker website and join in with poker discussion in one of the biggest poker forums around. The site still remains strong even without the poker room, and it will remain as a popular community with DN’s written blog, video blog and forum entries for a long time to come.
