The mobile poker landscape is crowded with big names such as the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour. Gameloft has already been this industry, bringing out their Midnight Poker series previously, but when the firm was preparing a new poker game to bring back its reputation, the company knew that it needed a big celebrity name to draw attention to the game. Poker legend Gus Hansen, who turned pro in 1997 and has since accumulated over $5 million in tournament winnings, was a natural selection for the place by Gameloft.
Gus Hansen is widely known in the industry as a result of his aggressive style of play and he now headlines Gameloft’s brand new Million Dollar Poker that was released in North America recently. Gameloft released the game this week. According to Gameloft the game is the only mobile poker game that integrates a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide its opponents with an extremely realistic playing style that looks certain to entertain.
According to Hansen the quality of the AI involved in the game was essential to him and making the game as realistic as possible to the player topped his list of priorities when having his large input into producing the game.
Gus Hansen not only provided his actual image to be used in the game, but he also aided the production of the game by inputting his skills and knowledge. With an impressive four World Poker Tour championship titles long with a first-place finish in the 2007 Aussie Millions, Hansen has an extensive array of qualities that will surely make the game a must have for all poker fans with mobile phones.
Gus stated; “The embarrassing thing is that I am yet to complete the game,” Hansen said in his blog. “It takes a lot of skill to master the game’s artificial intelligence as we wanted to create a game that offered a real challenge for you guys.” The AI element of the game has produced a whole new dimension to poker video games, this advanced technology now means that the game itself studies its opponents and picks up on patterns of play from the gamer. This in turn means that a challenging experience will be provided for the player, unlike many previous poker games that are pretty simple to work out the flaws in the computers game play and patterns within the computers play.
Overall, it is pleasing to see that a more challenging game has been created that enables any poker fan out there to brush up on their game skills whilst not risking any big dollars!
