Phil Hellmuth has always been known as a bit of a ‘devil’ in the world of poker due to his infant like remarks, controversial outbursts, high self-opinion and constant attempts to belittle his opponents. Hellmuth famously stated ‘I can dodge bullets baby’ during the main event of the World Series back in 2005 after laying down a huge hand to an even better hand of pocket aces, representing his great talent in the game . It is for this reason, along with his bizarre personality that Hellmuth has always attracted the attention of the crowd and never fails to entertain. This December on the first of the month at the Palms Casino Las Vegas, Phil Hellmuth will be proving that he is not just the bad-tempered poker player, but also a good hearted individual by hosting ‘Beauty and the Bet’ poker tournament for charity in aid of the families of fallen law enforcement officers.
The fact that the title of the poker event includes the word ‘beauty’, is not just a coincidence but actually appropriate as appearances will be made by a number of different playboy stars including Sarah Elizabeth, Stephanie Heinrich and Stacy Fusion. The event consists of two separate no-limit hold’em events available for players to enter and compete in. The first of the two events starts at noon, with the buy-in being set at $500 and unlimited rebuys at a price of $500 running up until the initial break period. At the end of the rebuy period there will also be a final and single add-on of $250 for anyone who wished to make a last boost to their stack. The second of the two tournaments is called the ‘High-Roller’ tournament and is designed for players with a larger bankroll, with the entrance fee running at $2,500. The ‘High-Roller’ tournament will begin at 5.p.m, with rebuys available up until the first break as with the first $250 tournament at noon. At the end of the rebuy period there will be one add on available standing at $1,250.
An overall pot consisting of fifty percent of the buy in fees, rebuys and add-ons will contribute towards the final player’s prize pool. The top three finishers from both of the tournaments will progress onto the final six seater winners table and be provided with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with Phil Hellmuth in person along with the beautiful playmates as mentioned earlier at the luxurious Playboy Club. There will only be one single winner of the overall prize, which is made up of two Super Bowl tickets and also tickets for entrance into Playboys exclusive Saturday night club party.
The event as a whole is dedicated to providing benefits to the TASER Foundation charity, whose mission (as stated on the official TASER website; www.taserfoundation.org) is to “honour the service and sacrifice of local and federal law enforcement officers in the United States and Canada lost in the line of duty by providing financial and educational support to their families”. Information on how to provide donations and also information about the organisation can be located on the website.
