Pacific Poker is one of the oldest rooms in the industry, and over recent weeks it has experienced a much-needed makeover. The old software had started to become very dated, which made the look room look a lot less attractive than some of the other big-name rooms on the market. The directors of the Pacific Poker room are now hoping that this graphical improvement will help in attracting and retaining higher numbers of visitors.

The old software offered very little in the way of features. The room was very plain and simple, and provided a basic playing experience to its visitors. There were no fancy or useful features to help improve the quality of play, which the majority of other rooms now have on their respective software clients. Furthermore, the graphics were also very dull and bland, but it could be argued that this appearance helped to prevent players from being distracted from the action at the table, and so the room was actually quite popular with veteran players.

Although the room has had a makeover, it still retains its simplistic approach to displaying actions at the table. The graphics have been improved, but it is still as easy as ever to keep up with the action at the table and figure out your play as the action reaches you.

The main difference that you will immediately notice between the old software and the new is the presence of avatars. On the old software, you were represented solely by a nametag when you sat down at the table, but now an avatar can represent you instead. These avatars are not customisable, but you can choose from a variety of different avatars from a list provided in the options menu. Furthermore, you are able to choose from a selection of 5 different table backdrops in the same options menu if you fancy a change from the standard appearance.

The lobby remains roughly the same as before, but everything now looks a little clearer than it once used to. All of the tables are displayed well, and you are able to sort between them using the column headings at the top of the lobby window.

This new upgrade in the Pacific Poker software should help the room in obtaining a larger player base in the future. The room suffered a significant loss in traffic after the UIGEA was enforced, but now things are looking on the up with this new improved software.
