The Poker Tracker website was hacked early last week, which resulted in the website having to be taken down until it was re-uploaded yesterday. The source of the hacking is unknown, but hacking has been rife over the last few months, with numerous popular sites being hacked and experiencing problems with running properly.

Hacking is currently very popular amongst Turkish webmasters, but it is not always confined to these regions. Hacking has become quite popular, and once a site has been hacked there is not usually anything malicious taking place apart from visitors being redirected to a random page of the hacker’s desire. It appears that the bigger the site that is hacked, the more impressive the hacker will appear within hacking communities.

Users of the Poker Tracker software will be relieved to hear that no part of the software was hacked, as all of the problems were confined to the website. So users should not be worried about safe usage of the software if they used it last week or are continuing to do so now. However, users may have found that they were unable to receive any updates during last week, but it should no longer be a problem as the site is now back up and running well.

It could be said that these non-malicious hacks may well be good for big websites in the long run, despite the fact that they are tedious and frustrating for the webmasters and users alike. After experiencing a hack, the webmasters can figure out how it took place, and take measures to make sure that it does not take place again in the future, and thus reducing the risk of future hacks and damage to the website.

If you are looking for something a little different to the Poker Tracker software, you can always head over to the Poker Office website and give their software a try using their free trial. The program does exactly the same thing as Poker Tracker, but it has a cleaner interface and has all the add-ons such as a table overlay and graphing software included within the price tag. You can also import hand histories from PT to PO, so there is no need to worry about having to start a completely new database up if you are prepared to change. I prefer to use the Poker Office software myself, but veteran users may prefer to stick with what they know best, and continue with the old reliable Poker Tracker.
