After a long day of play we are finally down to our last 6 remaining contenders in the 2007 WPT Championship at the Bellagio poker room in Las Vegas. WPT representatives released the official final table names and chip counts at around 3:00 a.m. this morning after the last player (Thomas Wahlroos) was eliminated in the dreaded 7th place, putting him one spot out of the money. Final table action begins today at 5:00 p.m. PST with the top 6 all fighting for the coveted title and the estimated $3.97 Million first place prize. This is also a very important tournament in terms of respect and ability, as it is considered to be one of the toughest field of players if not the toughest in the entire season.
The deciding hand of the day was between Thomas Wahlroos and Paul Lee and would seal Wahlroos’s fate with a 7th place finish and $247,525 in cash. Here is how the hand went down:
Wattel raised to 420,000, Lee calls and Wahlroos moves all in for 5 Million
Lee thinks and finally calls, showing AQ easily dominating Wohlroos’s A10
At the end of the hand the board shows J82 2 5, giving Lee the victory and sending Wohlroos packing to the rail
