Born Gustav Hansen on February 13th, 1974 just outside Copenhagen, Denmark, this poker champion was a professional backgammon player and avid athlete before making the switch to full-time poker pro. Hansen started his gambling ways in a move to New York in 2000 to try to do the professional backgammon circuit full-time, however this dream soon dimished with little action or competition available.

Gus Hansen is known as one of the looser players in the game and has gained the reputation of an agressive raiser who is willing to put in a bet with any two cards. To date, Hansen’s winnings have exceed $4.2 Million and he has made several final tables and wins in tournaments such as the World Series and World Poker Tour.
